Advantages and Capabilities of PCR

A PCR test can be performed in 1-2 days, compared to 7-10 days for microbiological research. PCR technology allows the detection of various pathogens, such as fungi, viruses, bacteria, and phytoplasmas in any type of plant material (shoot, leaf, root, etc.). The exceptional sensitivity of PCR allows the detection of minimal amounts of virus, such as 2-5 genome copies per reaction, which is absolutely unattainable for other methods.
